Affiliate Marketing Tips

The best affiliate marketing tips are simply the tips that you are able to put into practice and make profit from. I’m sure you knew that anyway but I like starting articles by stating the obvious and it saves a lot of time running around in circles and wondering ‘what the heck am I supposed to be writing about.’

For those of you that don’t know me through my website I should explain that I spent a couple of years attempting to make an income online and then gave up because I found it impossible to achieve. When I gave up attempting it gave my mind the opportunity to look at the big picture and set up my own system. After this I returned to internet marketing and have managed to stay off the dole queue and finance the lifestyle I choose to live. As Frank Sinatra used to sing: I did it my way. So what is my way?

Put simply it is the common sense method that is far divorced from the hype of the self-proclaimed internet gurus. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure some of the gurus are very clever and have a lot of good things to say but the vast majority of them don’t have a clue and that statement is being kind to them. All they will do is waste a whole lot of your time, sell you a few things that don’t work and send endless emails telling you how smart they are. After two years of trusting them and believing their hype I finally woke up to the fact that the internet marketing niche is dominated by the unknowing attempting to lead the ever hopefuls. A real recipe for disaster.

As an example I received an email promo this week from a self-proclaimed guru who made a big point of showing a ClickBank or Paypal account that was showing income of around $3,000 per day for the period of four weeks. It went on to explain how anybody can duplicate these returns if they pay just $195 for a copy of his process. It is June 2009 now and the figures were claimed to be made in March 2009 so you can be forgiven for thinking how fresh this program is. The account figures started on Tuesday 1 March, no year was shown. So I opened the calendar on my computer and the last time I found March 1 on a Tuesday was in 2005. Stop and think: This crook was attempting to tell hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of people that he had this up to date super program that made around $3,000 each day and his proof was dated 2005. If this doesn’t tell you a story about some of the self-proclaimed gurus nothing will.

Although I do use affiliate marketing for a portion of my online income I also use private label rights and resale rights products that I get from a very reputable source. This ensures that I have my own products to market that allow me to keep 100% of the sale price. Some of my products also have affiliates selling them too. Sure it reduces my total income but compensates me by larger sales volume and wider spread of my name online. Also I often sell with resale rights and this allows people that buy my products to go to the market and sell them again. This is how most information products arrive at eBay; they are simply products people bought online with resale rights. They advertise them on eBay and recoup what they paid for them.

I’ve seen some of my products selling on eBay for more than I charged. So what; it’s free world and I support anybody that makes an honest buck.

The big secret is not to join the wrong membership site if you are seeking resale rights products and that’s the best affiliate marketing tip I can pass on to anybody. The Japanese have a saying: “When you find the right way to ask a question you will also find the right answer.” Take time and ask all the questions of yourself regarding internet marketing and when you fully understand what you can do and what you can’t do the business plan that will work for you will materialize. Somebody else can give you the tools but you are responsible for making them work.
